MY ENGLISH COMPETENCE IN 2014

In this post I'm going to talk about the best oral and written evidence I've done during this year.

Dear Lidia,
I know you’re excited to start a new type of life and you expect that everything will come to you will be unforgettable, but remember that not everything is like you will expect.

In life you will meet with a lot of people; the ones who you will remember for a long time and the ones who you will want to forget immediately. For this reason I only want to tell you to spend your time with these people you really want to stay. Don’t be manipulated by anybody and remember to be just the way you are.

I’m sure you will live some difficult moments when you’ll think nothing in life makes sense, but you have to be mature enough to overpass them and stand up like a hero.
Remember: “Life is tough, but so are you”.

Yours sincerely,

LÍDIA TARRATS COSTA

I’ve chosen this composition as the best because I really enjoyed doing it. I love the topic of the writing and I put all my effort to write a good one.
I’ve used some expressions, I want to “the ones…. And the ones” or verbs like “overpass”, and I think they help a lot to improve the writing.
I use passive phrases (be manipulated by) and I think it’s something that makes the difference between compositions I did two years ago.
Also I have learned a lot of vocabulary, idioms, expressions, phrasal verbs and some others words.
And to final, I want to talk about the personal development. I think in this writing  I've expressed my feelings and I can say I also feel more mature. Writing on the blog help you a lot to talk about everything in life you want; anything you can be frustrated with and something you love and you want to share with the others.

And about my best oral evidence I think it’s my last oral presentation, it was about my TDR and as I said before I’ve learned a lot. Even though my oral post I’ve done this term I also think it’s one of the best. I’ve improved my pronunciation and my fluency compared with my fist oral presentation or posts.
it's the oral post I did about "money can change the world".

MY ENGLISH PROGRESS FROM 2012-2014

In this post I’m going to talk about my improvement along these two years I’ve been doing batxillerat. First of all, I will compare my first composition I did at the beginning of first batxillerat and it was an email to Sonia:

“Dear Sonia,
I’m Lídia and as we agreed, I email you to introduce myself and to give you some special information about me.
As you know, I’m 16 years old and I live in Castelló d’Empúries. A small town, but at the same time, very special for me. About me, I can only say that I think I’m friendly and some of my friends told me that I’m someone who always wants to help somebody.
Also, I love the sports, and in my opinion, it’s so important to keep feet and to do some exercise, not so many people are aware of that thought.  I want to say I practice rowing, it's so hard but I love it. Now, you know some more about me! Thank you for the time you've spent to read my email.
Write soon!
Lídia Tarrats Costa

And this is my last post I’ve done in this blog some days ago:

I can’t believe it, I’m writing the last post on this blog which was created two years ago. Time flies!
I have to accept when I knew I had to create a blog to write about anything for the English subject, I think “wow, I don’t want to do it”. But then I’ve to admit you get used to do it and you realize you can learn a lot of things doing it. To be in front of a white paper and to begin to think which topic you want to write about it’s really interesting.
Sometimes you can feel you’re wasting your time working on the blog, but now I don’t think so.
From my point of view, writing in the blog has helped me a lot to improve my writing skills and moreover, I feel more insecure with my compositions.
Thank you for the ones who have spent some minutes reading some the posts I’ve written here. I suppose next year I will miss to write on this blog!
Best wishes and good luck!

If I have to compare both, I can say that I have improved a lot my writing. First of all, because now I know more about grammatical categories and mainly I know what connectors are. Even though I’m really surprised, because reading my first email I see I used some connectors like “but at the same time”, some phrasal verbs (keep feet), and adjectives like “aware” (they are all marked on the composition).
Now, after some hours of studying connectors I have to say I use them a lot, in this last composition we can read some examples: “but, from my point view, moreover, …” and they help to improve writings.
One of the mistakes I have noticed in the first one is some words repeated, they are also marked (for example I use too many times “some”).
And finally, I want to say I’ve improved vocabulary; reading books in English helps a lot to know more words and expressions.

And about my oral presentations I have to say I’m really proud of me because I think I’ve improved a lot.
I remember when I did my first presentation that I was really scared and nervous. I think I’ve improved a lot my body language, my fluency and now I can say I look more often at the audience.
To have an example, I post one of my fist presentations I did to see judge my oral skills:

I can’t post my last oral presentation about my TDR, but from my point of view it’s the best I’ve done. I know more my classmates and I felt more comfortable and I think my pronunciation improved a lot.

THE BEST ONES ARE ALWAYS TAKEN

"FC Barcelona is in immense mourning. Tito Vilanova has died at the age of 45. May he rest in peace,"
Last 25 of April Tito Vilanova died at the age of 45. Since 2011 he had a cancer, removed in November 2011, and he had to fight really hard against this difficult illness.
Tito was in Barcelona team since a child and he dedicated all his life to his family and football. Tito Vilanova was known as an incredible person, he was really kind and hard working, and also during a year he was the coach team of the first team in Barcelona.
"The Vilanova family has asked for respect for their desire for the strictest intimacy in the moments after his death."

- Opinion

"Tito and I were young, we wanted to conquer the world and we did. The sadness I feel will accompany me for the rest of my life".
Pep Guardiola.

This is the saddest news of all I have done during these three years of blog. To hear a person who has known around the world and was only 45 year has died is terrifying.
Every day I know more people with cancer and I’m getting really worried, because you never know when it could happen to you.
Tito Vilanova stant out in his professional career as a coach, but he also has been recognized to be someone really attentive and a person who won’t be forgotten.
Rest in Pace, Tito.

CAN LOVE LAST FOR EVER?

Yesterday I read an article which talked about love, and I found this sentence that it made me think a lot: “Romantic love, which they defined as love with intensity, engagement, and sexual interest, can exist in long-term relationships”.

Do you think love can last forever?

Well, I know this topic is not easy to talk about but I found it really interesting. I’m only 18 years old and I haven’t so much experience about love, even though I think love can make you feel incredible things in life.

“Blue Valentine” is one of my favorite films and it talks about story of a couple; they have been for a long time loved each other but at the end, they realized their love is finished and we can see the dissolution of their marriage. When I watched this film my idea about love changed a little bit, I know it will be difficult to find a person that I can fall in love for the rest of my life and I’m not those who think love can last forever.

News (Human Rights)

“Tens of thousands of children every day are in immigration detention around the world”.

In this news we can know more about terrible things which are happening right now and we are not aware of it. It talks about a story of a family from Bangkok and who have lived some horrible situations about children immigration and sexual abuses.
Every day there are a lot of children who are arrested from their houses without any contact with anybody, either with their parents and family.  We’re talking about children who are under 15 and availed to be abused and forced to work illegally.

- Opinion

I can’t understand how cruel people could be with children around the world. Every day on the news we can heard or read some attack or violation to children and this is insane.
Children are innocent and they can't imagine what they could receive from cruel people.
What I have read on this news is really terrifying, is the experience of one mother whose child was arrested for two years. She dreamt with him every day and she couldn’t talk to him, this is a nightmare for a mother.
“No torture and no violation”, these are two important human rights everybody had and sadly not everybody respect them. We hope on time we could see some changes in our society without any war and violence.

Money can change the world

listen to ‘money isn't important’ on Audioboo

It is said money can change the world, we’re living in a materialistic society and everything can be got with it. There’s no doubt money has become one of the most important things is our society and I think it could be really disruptive for all of us.

I firmly believe that there are other things more important than money in life. Happiness or love, for example, could they be bought? Personally, I think we usually give too much importance to expensive things, in other words, the more expensive they are the better we think they could be. And from my point of view, we don’t appreciate things we can get with effort and without any money.

Having said that I also want to say that most of the times to be a rich person may help you to get things easily. It’s true that life is not a bed of roses and I have to accept that with money there are more opportunities to get what we really want or need.
All in all, I think everyone has to have their own limits and know what they need to be a happy person.

Spanish Government
Madrid

Mr. Rajoy,

I am writing to complain about some issues in our society today. As you know, we are living in a complicated situation and the country does not work as should run.
Nowadays, we are in crisis and from my point my of view, this I one of the most important problems we have. Since 1948 we have lived in a society with “Humans Rights”. Do you think in our current society every one of us has all the rights we should have?
This crisis I named before has caused a lot of problems, and about “Humans Rights” I have to say not everyone has all of them. A lot of people are homeless and many of them are immersed in a violent world. However, I do not see any changes from the government and I think it’s a real problem.
I am young and I trust in years we will see this change of our society. Thank you for the time, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,

INTERVIEW

I’m interested in business and especially human resources management, it’s  said you’re an expert on this and want to ask you some questions:

- When you started the degree, did you think to finish working on this eventually?
Well, not at all. I have to say when I had to choose a degree I didn’t have anything clear
in my mind.  During the first year I’d been studying a degree about biology (you can see how lost I was) but this choice made me realize what I really wanted to do. The following year I started some studies in business management and since then I’ve been immersed in this world.

- What do you like about your job?
I love everything related with business and study how a company works or has to work. Even though, I’m working in the human resources department  and what I really love about this is that I get a chance to build relationships with great people.

- Do you find this work difficult?
I’ve always though you’ll never find something that you find difficult. You have to fight as far as you can to get what you really want. Now you’re in a period of time when maybe you think everything is difficult and tough. Even though you’re a young girl who has to decide which path want to take to decide her future. I hope you’ll choose the best option.

HUMAN RIGHTS

What are human rights and what do we know about them?

Human rights were created in 1948 and they are considered all rights everyone has simply because they are just a human. We can make the difference between 30, but in this post I want to talk about one of them which I think it’s really interesting, it’s the right of “Freedom of expression”.

Everyone has the right to freedom of think and express whatever he or she wants, and from my point of view there’s no doubt of it. We’re free to do and say what we want, but living in a current society sometimes this becomes a difficult labor. Nowadays there are some countries where not everybody is able to express his feelings and say what he thinks.
From my point of view, not to be able to express whatever I want and be careful about what I can or can’t say is intolerant. Opinions and feelings are ours and I think that anyone can prohibit us to express them.

Special day

Last Saturday I spent a fantastic day with my friends, and I have to say I enjoyed more than I expected.

We wanted to do something different from all the things we normally do, and we decided to spend the day go walking from Roses to Cadaqués.
Well, this road is named “El camí de Ronda” and people use to do it in 6 or 7 hours. Firstly we proposed to finish it, but then we saw it wasn’t easy to get. That day the sun was shining like on July, and after walk for 3 or 4 we prefered to spend the rest of the day in a beach in “Cap de Creus”.

After a hike like this I have to say I feel more proud to live where I live. The landscape of “Cap de Creus” is just amazing, I’m really in love with it.

I have to say that this day I also did my first swim in crystal clear sea water. At the bottom of this sentences there is a photo taken by Tura, one of my friends.

A nightmare

A lot of people said to me that second of batxillerat is the worst year. We’re finishing the course and I can say I totally agree with them. This year I’ve been doing second of batxillerat I cried and live some disgruntled situations.

In  my case, it’s been really stressfull because I’m an strict student and I want to get all I propose to myself. I don’t know yet exactly the degree I will do the next year, but more or less the mark I have to get to access it’s quite high. So, it means I have to work as far as I can to get good marks and say I’m proud of me to get what I wanted.

Since the first day we began we’ve heard “Selectivitat” more than a thousand times (I’m not joking). I think one of the things make this year so stressful and horrible is Selectivitat. For me, it’s a pressure we have and something we have to fight for really hard.

Easter

Two weeks before Easter I was asked to go to a camp as a cooker and taking care of a group of children with other monitors. It’s not the first time I do this type of things and I have to say I love do it once in two or three months at least.

During the week I’m in the camp I’m disconnected from the world and I have time to relax myself as much as I want. When I they asked me to go I didn’t spent more than a second to accept the proposal.

Those days were exactly what I was looking for; sleep, live in the middle of the forest, to have time to enjoy with children and to thinking of nothing, and to do whatever I wanted.

I took advantage of it and I have to say it was really useful because now, after those days different form the routine, I feel like studying and working to get the marks I’m looking for.

Ireland as next destination

Since I was 15, every summer I’ve travelled to Ireland or England in order to learn English, meet with new people and live new experiences. Every time I’ve gone I’ve spent three weeks in a family and I have to say I’ve felt at home, they are really adorable and friendly.

This year I want to repeat the experience, and I probably chose to stay another time in a family in Ireland for 3 weeks and 24 hours with them every day. The last time I stayed in Cork, and now I want to change and looking for a family in north of Ireland.

From my point of view, having the opportunity to travel and spend some weeks abroad learning English is really interesting. Not everyone can do it and I’m really proud and happy to have this opportunity and I’m sure I will take advantage of this experience.

Selfies

Since last ceremony of “The Oscars”, Selfies have become more and more popular. A selfie is a self-photography often taken with a camera phone and shared in some social networking such as Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat…

From my point of view, I like Selfies and I think they are an original way to take a photo, even there are lot of people who say “Selfies” have became typical. Personally I prefer collective Selfies because most of them are funny and really grateful.

Last Monday I listened on the news a girl died in a traffic accident mean she was trying to take her a selfie. This news made me think a lot and I found it really worrying and dangerous. I say it because I want to make us aware of how far this stile named Selfie can arrive.

At the bottom of this text we could see this selfie I talked about before. The selfie of the Last ceremony of The Oscars, where we can see some famous actors like Julia Roberts, Brad Pit, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep

Menorca

It was on summer when I was with my group of friends and we were spending the night chatting and having fun (like every day) and when it comes to us a brilliant idea.

We’re students of second of batxillerat and we’re really anxious to finish this nightmare in the high school. For this reason, this last summer we were planning our holidays in order to celebrate the end of batxillerat. We’re 20 and we’ve got to be agreed to travel to Menorca for “Sant Joan”. We have rented 3 apartments with a swimming pool which are situated near Mahó.

Personally, I really feel like to go there with them and spend 7 days away from work, exams, and classes and only think to enjoy the summer. I hope we will live unforgettable experiences and these holidays will become exceptional.

NOMOPHOBIC DIALOGUE

JAN: Can I arrest your mobile during a week, Susan?

SUSAN: Are you kidding me?

JAN: No, I want you o be aware of your obssesion. I’m really worried about you and I want to stop this.

SUSAN: I’m aware of it, but this problem it’s not as easy as you think. I’ve  been fighting against it since I was 13, and it hasn’t got any better.

JAN: I know it’s difficult, but I can’t stand seeing you with the mobile phone every minute of the day. Let me help you, I promise we can get over it.

SUSAN: Wow, it’s the first time you tell me this. I didn’t know you were so worried about me, and I’m really sorry because it’s something I can control.

JAN: Trust me. First of all, I think te should go to a doctor. This obsession must be treated by a specialist.

SUSAN: It’s not easy for me Jan. I’m really scared not to escape from this obsession. Help me please, I will fight as hard as I can to get over it.

A new life

We’re finishing batxillerat and I can say next year something will change my life radically. Even I’m not totally sure which degree I will do, I know I want to go to live in Barcelona and if I can, study in the University named “Pompeu Fabra”.

To start a new type of “life” far from home it’s something that makes me feel really anxious. New routine, new friends, new goals to get and a new life really different from that I have, for me it sounds really great.

Even though, I have to admit that sometimes I’m scared and I think that everything will be too much for me. But then I talk with some friends of mine, who are living and studying in Barcelona, and they said to me that there everything is easier than I could think.

"#BringBackOurGirls"

On 14 of April some girls were taken from their school in Chibok (Nigeria), and on this news we can see how American Government wants to fight and help them.  There are more than 200 kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls and they are violated and forced to do cruel things.

Lady Michelle Obama for example is someone who is organizing campaigns to help people from these poor countries, who are arrested.
"#BringBackOurGirls" is the hastag from the slogan on the BBC's Andrew Marr show. There is a lot of support from America there are a lot of campaigns to finish with this type of situations which are around the world. Mr Cameron tweeted: "Proud to support #BringBackOurGirls."

- My opinion

It’s really terrible to read on the news poor people are arrested, and that there are more than 200 kidnapped only in Nigeria. But well, now we’re talking about Nigerian people, but unluckily there are thousands countries more living this situation.

During this term we’ve talking about Human Rights, and with this news we can see how million of people haven’t got some of these rights. For me, it’s really sad but we have to be aware that it’s really difficult to finish with this type of things.

Education is the key

“If you don’t build your dreams, someone else will hire you to help build theirs”

It’s important to fight as much as you can to get all you want. I think to have dreams in life it’s one of the most important things we should have ourselves. It help you a lot to be motivated and to feel like to “eat the world”.

“Education is about inspiring one’s mind, not just filling their head”

I totally agree with this sentence. Is it education about filling our heads and memorize thousands of words only to remember them for some hours? I’m a student and I have to say that I’ve lived this situations lot of times, and from my point of view it’s horrible. It’s horrible because after the exam you forget absolutely what you studied by head some hours ago.

“as long as you follow the rules and pass the exams, you’re cool”

I love this sentence and I think our education is based on this; we’re evaluated only for our marks and to do what someone else tell us to do. Personally, I would prefer another system to evaluate students; inspiration, improvisation, creativity, innovation…

A soulmate for me

Is it said that finding a person who could by our soulmate is a really difficult challenge. I think in life we’ll  meet with a lot of different people, even though we’ll always think they won’t be that special person we’re looking for.

I’m not so strict about his looks but taking into consideration I’m tall, I would like to find someone taller than me ( not as Pau Gasol, if possible).
I would like to find a person I can spend long hours and never be tired of and someone I could share unforgettable experiences with. Above all, I think he has to accept me the way I’m and be also a person I can always trust in.
I think in a relation trust is one of the most important thinks it should has to be if the couple want to succeed and get a special bond.

All in all, even it isn’t easy to find a soulmate like this I will search as far as I need to meet him, and start a new life next to an special person.

Sweet 18

It sounds strange but I can say I’m eighteen years old! Well… I can anything has changed, but I hope in time I could see some changes in my life.
Even it was on Wednesday and I had to go to the high school, it was a really special day. I was with all the people that I love and I have to say that it makes me the happiest person in the world.

My family gave me a really special gift that I didn’t expect it; it was a Parachute jump!! Since I was a child I’ve always wanted to do it and now they have given me the opportunity to  I have been thinking and I’ve decided I will do it in June, after “Selectivitat”.

On Saturday we celebrated Eloi’s birthday and mine with all our friends. We did a dinner and after it we went to a party, it was a fantastic night and we enjoyed a lot. I want to say they made me a video with some photos since I was a child until now, and it was really nice and it made me cry a lot.

Indian headshakes

During this week has been uploaded a video that has got an awesome viwer on Youtube. It was made by Paul Mathew, a writer and director from India. On the video we can see how Mathew shows the peculiar way they act and especially, the Indian headshakes they make to answer any questions, how they react in a situation, etc... For example, she explains the headshakes they make to say: “yes”, “no”, “thanks”, “maybe”, “what’s up”, ...

He says that she didn’t expect to have this popularity because there is something to improve on the video. It’s named "Indian Headshakes, what do they mean", and on it we can see two men acting. And about the reviews which are about the video; most people thinks it’s original and reflects the reality.

- MY OPINION

From my point of view, I think this video isn’t so original as most people think.  On the one hand, it’s funny how they act and what they say, but on the other hand I think all the headshakes have been exaggerated and with some comic effects, as Mathew admits.
Even though, I think it could be a popular idea and project around the world.

Tough EU smoking rules approved

One of the most important and dangerous problem we have in our society is the smoking.  Yesterday, the European Union approved a legislation in order to decrease the number of the people who smock in United Kingdom, concretely.

An alarming number of deaths which are caused by the smoking have to make us think about the really negative effects it could cause. The European Union estimated that 700.000 is the number which shows us how many deaths are caused across the EU by smoking.

This legislation includes some rules like: put some pictures covering the packets of cigarettes, a ban on a mental, fruit or vanilla cigarettes, or a ban on promotion elements which aren’t saying the truth.

Especially, the European Union wants to reduce the number of teenagers which begin to smoke really early and this is an alarming and so prejudicial thing we have to consider.  It’s really important because it an issue that concerns the whole world and we have to pay attention with people’s health.
On the news, it is said that this legislation will be introduced in two years.

- MY OPINION

On one hand and as all we know, smoking is a really dangerous addiction that a lot of people are affected by. Nowadays, I think that people begins to smoke so early, most of them being influenced by their friends or another people around them, and for example I want to add that I know people who are under 15 and they smoke every day.

On the other hand, I want to say that I think to smoke sometimes (not every day and for example in some moments you want to be relaxed) it’s not a really bad thing, and also everybody can try it once. But even though, there are some people who after trying it one day, then they can’t help to stop smoking in their live, and this is the main problem.

Influences

Choosing one person who has had a major influence on my life is really difficult. Since I was born I have met thousands of people and I have lived a lot of periods of my life where I have had really different type of person next to me.

However, if I have to mention one (except my family), it would have to be my teacher at primary school. She’s Marta, is from Tenerife and I met her when I was six. Since the first time I saw her I knew she would be a fantastic teacher, and I wasn’t wrong. Even I was only six years ago, I noticed she loved her work, we could see her passion and enthusiasm for what she did. She was my math’s teacher and I have to say that she rubbed off on me her passions of mathematics, and now I love this subject.

Also, I remember one day that I fell in the corridor and I broke my leg. That day I had to go to the hospital and my parents were at work and they couldn’t come to the school. I remember it was Marta who stayed next to me all day in the hospital and she gave all the support that I need. Now, she is working in another town, but we keep meeting us from time to time and I’m really proud of it.

Social classes

Since always we’ve lived in a society which is divided into different social classes. Concretely, if we make a reference to Price and Prejudice book we talk about the privileged class which was so popular in England some centuries ago. People from this social class are really recognized by the origins and their family, and of course they are also well known by their popular and traditional income.

On the one hand, I want to talk about one of the most important things related to this type of social class, it’s the education. Well, rich people from this society are recognized by having really good manners; they take care of how they have to act in front of the others and what they have to say, they are really known by the way they speak. Also, this type of people can afford to have a good education, and this issue is not allowed for everybody. In my point of view, this is one of the unfair things we have in our society. I also want to refer to these people who don’t have the origins but they do their best to have a good education and a social and cultural class.

On the other hand and as we can see in Price and Prejudice, relationships aren’t moved by real feelings. In my opinion, they search for a person who also has the origins, manners from recognized family. I think, most of the times they don’t search for a person to fall in love with, I mean a real love. The only thing they are interested in is the wealth and the kind of family belongs to. This is reflected in the film with the love stories between for Elizabeth and Darcy or Charles and Jane.

Facebook to buy messaging app WhatsApp for $19bn

Last week Facebook, the most important social networking service, grew up. It bought WhatsApp, it cost about 19.000 dollars and this decision was known around the world.

WhatsApp  is also recognized as an important social networking, but it’s more used in Europe than in America, for example. And this was one of the reasons Facebook did the inversion, it’s because now more people around the world will use WhatsApp. It’s important to add that WhatsApp offers a free service avoing to pay fees, even though there is also some people who pay 1$ per year in order to use this service.

On the other hand, the co-founder of WhatsApp will be member of Facebook’s group of directors. And they think that it’s not essential to make advertisements about text messing systems because it won’t be useful.

- MY OPION

About this news I have to say I’m really interested about it. Why? Well, mainly because I’m a user of WhatsApp and Facebook and I agree that as the time goes by Facebook is losing users and WhatsApp is being more used.

On one hand and in my opinion, years ago I used Facebook a lot and everybody did it, it was something really new that everyone was fascinated with. Now, it’s true there is a lot of people using it too, but this number of users has decreased.

On the other hand I want to talk about something which is an important thing to consider because it could be prejudicial for a lot of people. I’m talking about the privacy, because it’s said that now, when WhatsApp has been bought by Facebook, there will be less privacy with the chats, and everything shared in the social media. So, be careful and informated about the privacy system.

Can Internet change for the better?

Nowadays, we're living a period of time where tecnoloy has become an essential element in our lives. Yet, are we really awal of that?

On the one hand, being connected to the whole world means you can be also informed aout anything it's happening at the other end. And of course, it gives you a lot of information that you can use however you want. Most of the times, you're allowed to search about everything and everyone you want.

Nevertheless, this connection it's now around the world can create such a dependency that can take away our privacy and from my poing of view, it's awful. Especially, with all the teenagers under 18 that use Internet everyday. They are not informed about all the negative consequensces can Internet have and they are not controlled form their parents, and this is the most negative effect.

All in all, even all negative things about Internet, we have to accept that we can't help living a part of this connected
world.

An experience in Myanmar

Yesterday I met Laura, she was one of my best friends when I was 5 years old, and she explained me a lot of things she have done and lived since we get separated.

One of these stories she explained was about a trip she did three years ago, Laura lived an experience that she will remember all her life. It took place in Myanmar (concretely in the middle of the jungle). As a good traveler, she was there with her parents for two weeks enjoying and spending their holidays.
One afternoon, while she was in the toilet making her up , she didn’t notice that she had a huge, big and horrible spider near her. Even though it was her father who warned her shouting “Look! A spider on the wall”. Without thinking twice she shouted: “Kill it”.

At first, they didn’t know what to do because it could be poisonous and they were really afraid of being hurt. All we know that it’s not strange to see such a huge and big spider in the jungle, but it took them by surprise.
After thinking about what to do, they decided to call the receptionist and ask for some help. Luckily, the receptionist was so kind and he didn’t doubt to come and help them.
The moment when Laura opened the door was really funny because she didn’t expect to find out five men. As they were used to doing these types of things, they caught a ladder and without any problem they made the spider fall off. While these men were working of it, Laura and her father were standing right there watching the situation really surprised.

Anyway, now after knowing all about the story, it’s time to think about what it could have happened if Laura’s father didn’t see the enormous and horrible spider.

Just different from the others

In this post I want to talk about one of the most special person I have meet in my life. He’s a difficult kind of person to be described, but I want to have a go and I will try to talk a little bit about him.

I have met him three years ago and since then we have remained firm friends. There is no one around me who would be such a nice person like him. Everybody who has met him for the fist time says he’s a cold persona and doesn’t have so many words to say. Well, he’s so shy and he has the difficulty to talk to unknown people, but it’s only for the first time. Then I can say he becomes a warm friendly person to whom you can keep talking for a long time.

He doesn’t know how to hurt a person (I’m not kidding), he always tries to find the best side of his friend and that’s why I love him. Since I met him, he has always remained next to me when I have had a problem, trying to make me happy and help me to carry on with my life, and that’s been very tactful of him.
He’s an amount of generosity and tolerance and I’m sure I won’t find another friend like him.

Don't be afraid to say it

The other day in the English class we saw a video that it made me think a lot, it’s named “20 Things We Should Say More Often”.

Well, first of all I have to say I really agree with all the things the kid says on the video, and of course I love how he says them, it’s really funny!
When I started watching the video, and when I thought about one thing that we have to say more often, I thought about one word that it isn’t on the video. I’m talking about one of the most beautiful words we can hear; even it’s something most of us don’t say a lot, I’m talking about the word “I love you”.

How many times we have wanted to say such a nice thing, even though we haven’t said it? Why? Is it shame? It could be… Even though, I want to say we have to be brave enough to say it to the people we really love (friends, members of the family or that special person that you are thinking about). Sometimes, we don’t care about that but then, when we really want to say it, it’s too late.

All in all, “I love you” it’s a word I think we should say more often. (Well, I’m talking about real feelings, and I’m not saying that you have to say it to the first person that comes to you, that I think it’s one of the mistakes a lot of people make).

Research paper abstract

This project studies the tertiary sector’s evolution of Castelló d’Empúries in a context of crisis.
Taking into consideration it’s a town situated in a recognised zone in the world, la Costa Brava, I wanted to know how it’s being affected by this important period of crisis that we’re living nowadays.

After work with some data given by the Town Hall of Castelló, I could get results and conclusions. What I have seen it’s that this high influence of tourism has helped a lot to the service sector not to being affected.

Castelló, a special town

Do you want to spend your holidays near the beach? Or do you want to go somewhere near the mountain?

Since I was born I have lived all my life in Castelló d’Empúries, and I have to say I’m so proud of it. Well, Castelló d’Empúries can give you the opportunity to live near the beach and the mountain at the same time. It’s situated in a recognized zone" La Costa Brava", and here you can find a lot of activities and chances in order to live new and incredible experiences.

It’s between Roses, a fantastic worn that offers a multitude of beautiful beaches, and Figueres which is the biggest commercial city of the zone. Here you can practice great variety of water sports, as well as walking around the mountains, the “Aiguamolls de l’Empordà” or the Natural Park of “Cap de Creus”. Even this multitude of activities, there is also where you can take your time and be a part of the world, relaxed, as long as you want; in a forest without any noise or in the middle of the beach with the breeze.

All in all, I recommend you a lot to come and visit this amazing zone of Catalonia. Personally, have to say next year I will miss living here a lot, because I will have to move to Barcelona in order to study and start a new life.
